What a hoot! I've been attending Fringe for years and was never before moved to write a review, but these seniors are a riot! Took my mom because based on the reviews it seemed like a show she would enjoy. She did (a lot!) but what surprised me was how much I loved it! They do a series of original skits, most of which are very funny. I particularly liked Text Message and Situation, and Mom and I both loved Name that Tune. Definitely worth your time!

The Pretty Good Players had me laughing for an hour with their skits on the joys of aging. Seniors like me would appreciate this best, but so would anyone who knows any seniors. I especially liked the mother-daughter relationship, the Grandma Barrista, and the texting.

Here you have a set of about ten shows (skits) for the price of one, of which NAME THAT TUNE is worth the price of admission alone. Who wrote the skit NAME THAT TUNE? Sign her up! Who acted in the skit NAME THAT TUNE? Sign them up! All ten skits pretty darned good, but ya gotta go for NAME THAT TUNE! BEAUTIFUL!

I don't mean "cute" in a condescending way. This show uses clever situations and humor to explore situations faced by people as they age. Most of the audience seemed to be baby boomers with a few older people and everyone seemed to be enjoying it tremendously -- probably because we all know we're going to get there soon!Probably not a great show for kids -- not because of anything too raunchy but they just might not get the comedy.

The Fringe offers shows by youths and shows by old fogies. People are always in need of a joyful laugh, and this is one "hoot" of a show. Yes, they may carry their scripts (is it hard to memorize as you age, perhaps -- yes!). But the comic timing is top-notch, they hold the stage and your attention, and it is quite enjoyable that not only can they laugh at themselves, but make you chuckle that you may be here, someday, in the future! Kudos bigtime to this group!

Lots of laughs from a group of seniors having fun at their first Fringe. Humorous skits on a variety of subjects from retirees working around teenagers to children who are embarrassed by their senior parents. Makes you think that old age may be the best time of life.

Seniors, with comedic timing and having fun. You are in on the joke - they carry their scripts with them so you don't have to worry about them forgetting their lines.
Entertaining especially for people that can identify with some of their own senior moments.

Car pooling is planned for July 26 and 27 to Morton from metro area (about 2 hrs from metro area near Redwood Falls in SW Minnesota)
--VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
-Visual artists to help with hat making
-Performing artists to lead interactive activities in theatre/dance/music
-Greeters and general helpers
MnCAAN has been chosen as the designated charity for the 2011 Uptown Art Fair! (Art fair volunteers have to be “credentialed” by the fair beforehand --names needed by 8-15.)
--Art Fair kickoff party on July 21
--VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
• Hat wearers (men and women) 6-8:30 pm -- to show off hats and encourage silent auction bids
• Someone with a van or pickup to pick up large art panels from North St. Paul and bring them to Calhoun Square on July 21 and return them the next day

• Decorator for Expo on August 5 -- to make the setting festive

Information Line Available for Seniors and Family Caregivers during state shutdown
The Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (MAAA) has established an Aging Services Information Line: 651-251-5762 to help older adults and caregivers get information about in-home services, meals and other food support, transportation, chore help, respite, caregiver consultation, housing options, Medicare and related issues.
The Information Line is a temporary service, supported with federal funds, to partially fill the gap created by the State's shutdown of the Senior LinkAge Line, a service of the Minnesota Board on Aging and Minnesota's Area Agencies on Aging.
MAAA's Information Line is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 651-251-5762.
The Information Line is answered by professional Information and Assistance Specialists with expertise in senior and caregiver support services, housing options, Medicare and other public benefits.
MAAA is the designated Area Agency on Aging for Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington counties. Funding for the Information Line is through the Federal Older Americans Act.

Children's Book Drive
Did you know that 60% of students living in poverty have zero children’s books in their home?!
Experience Corps, a program of Volunteers of America of MN and a partner with RSVP, is holding a book drive to support the students at one of its partner schools in St. Paul – The Barack and Michelle Obama Service Learning School.
Help us send books home with each of the 600+ kindergarten – 6th grade students at Obama Elementary! (Books appropriate for Ages 5-12).
You can support the book drive in two ways:
• Donate new or gently used books appropriate for Ages 5-12 to one of the drop-box locations before May 15th:
